Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology Services
Speech Language Pathologists support children from infancy into adulthood, including as young as working with infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) in hospitals. Spoken words are only one aspect of communication, and there are many milestones that lead up to a child using words intentionally to communicate. There is no age too young to seek out support. Adult Speech-Language Pathology Services
Birth.Breath.Connect. supports adults following neurological change such as a stroke, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), or other conditions affecting the brain and nervous system.
Speech-Language Pathology services can support the following conditions:
● Support following Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
● Support following Stroke
● Swallowing and Eating Difficulties
● Treatment for Aphasia
● Treatment for Apraxia
● Dysarthria Therapy
● Social Communication Support
● Cognitive-Communication & Executive Functioning Skills including attention, memory, planning, problem-solving, cognitive flexibility, impulse control, organization, task initiation, time management, and self-monitoring.
About the Therapeutic Process
The therapeutic process typically begins with an evaluation, however if the individual has had a recent Speech-Language evaluation, an outside evaluation may be acceptable. Due to the individual nature of therapy and the broad spectrum of clientele supported by Birth.Breath.Connect. It is recommended that potential clients/caregivers reach out directly for a consultation to determine if services might be appropriate.
Upon beginning Speech- Language Pathology services, depending on the individual, some formal/informal assessment of Primitive Reflex Integration and functional breathing patterns will take place, and the provider and individual will discuss if/how both Primitive Reflex Integration and Breathwork will be incorporated into the therapeutic process during Speech-Language Therapy sessions for both pedicatric & adult individuals. This is not at extra charge, but rather is integrated into the therapeutic process.
